The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a positive 95-82-133 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose one point to 1,004. Whoa! Here we go again -- except this surge is driven by critical minerals, not the now faded allure of diamonds: Dr. Michael Gunning's VR Resources Ltd. (VRR) climbed 28 cents to 40 cents on 22.79 million shares Wednesday on word that it has drilled a 317-metre surface-based interval grading 0.11 per cent molybdenum sulphide, 0.04 per cent copper, 0.02 per cent tungsten and 1.5 grams of silver per tonne at its New Boston porphyry-skarn project in Nevada. A deeper interval in that hole also did well, with a 419-metre stretch grading 0.05 per cent molybdenum sulphide, 0.07 per cent copper and 0.01 per cent titanium oxide.

Dr. Gunning, chief executive officer, cheered that the new data "show us nearly continuous mineralization in moly, copper, tungsten, silver and zinc in complex and intense polyphase veining that is continuous across [881 metres] of drill core and starts with 3.95 per cent copper equivalent at surface." Molybdenum-tungsten mineralization with copper characterizes the thick upper interval, Dr. Gunning enthuses, while copper-molybdenum mineralization characterizes the thicker lower zone. That zone, he cheers, is "centred on a mineralized diorite porphyry intrusion ... that is a new and important discovery for the New Boston porphyry-skarn system overall."
