The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a bleak 59-110-141 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell eight points to 920. Copper Giant Resources Corp. (CGNT) and its big Mocoa copper-molybdenum project in Colombia dropped eight cents to $1.15 on 2.16 million shares today, continuing its retreat in silence from the $1.49 at which it traded last week.

Chuck Fipke and Chad Ulansky's Cantex Mine Development Corp. (CD) added two cents to 32 cents on 588,000 shares. The company has closed a second tranche of the placement that it launched in mid-July, selling 2.4 million charity flow-through shares at 36.25 cents, 110,000 (uncharitable) flow-through shares at 30 cents and 412,000 regular shares at 25 cents apiece. The second tranche raised $1-million, bringing the haul to just over $2.9-million. Cantex previously sold 4.43 million charity flow-through shares, 283,000 flow-through shares and 959,000 regular shares, raising $1.93-million. Cantex had been seeking $3-million, but it boosted its ask to $3.5-million last week, citing "added interest."
