The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a terrible 39-105-176 as the TSX Venture Exchange shed eight points to 806. Among those losing altitude today was Congo tin miner, Alphamin Resources Corp. (AFM), which fell nine cents to $1.18 on 3.6 million shares in silence.
It is always good to have time to digest news, but often the awaited spiel is an anticlimactic end to a regulatory halt "pending news." That was the case Wednesday, when Trumbull Fisher's Anteros Metals Inc. (ANT) came off a brief halt to end the day up one-half cent to five cents on 228,000 shares. The company said that it had channel sampled a four-metre stretch grading 1.1 per cent copper and 8.7 grams of silver per tonne at an old showing on its Havens Steady project, 40 kilometres southeast of Buchans in central Newfoundland.
Anteros dug five trenches spanning 184 metres this summer but four of them failed to encounter bedrock. The four misfires apparently were dug in an area with mineralized float at surface, with one of those old boulders having graded 2.17 per cent copper and 21.3 grams of silver per tonne. The fifth -- the one with the assays -- was dug farther south at a historical showing.
