New York spot gold rose $3.50 to $1,712.80 on Tuesday. The TSX-V moved higher again today, adding 9.14 points to 606.34 while the TSX gold index added 0.16 point to 245.54. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher today and Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) helped lead the way. It added 17 cents to $7.52 on 710,000 shares. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) was also strong. It rose five cents to $2.43 on 6.53 million shares. Headed the other way was Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV), which dropped $3.92 to $159.73 on 626,000 shares.

Collin Kettell and Denis Laviolette's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) jumped 16 cents to $5.18 on 297,000 shares. The company had word of a new discovery today near its Queensway project in north-central Newfoundland, but it had nothing to do with gold. A hydrographer working for the company has happened upon a B-24 Liberator bomber lost 79 years ago, sitting at the bottom of Gander Lake. The wait for new bonanza-grade assays from Queensway has not been quite that long -- it just seems that way to weary investors.
