New York spot gold fell $16.40 to $1,696.40 on Wednesday. The TSX-V moved higher again today, adding 0.76 point to 607.10 while the TSX gold index retreated 8.41 points to 237.13. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower with bullion. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) dropped $2.44 to $52.86 on 2.13 million shares while Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) dropped 77 cents to $19.89 on 6.3 million shares. Atalaya Mining PLC (AYA) jumped 69 cents to $4.70, but on just 7,000 shares.

Tudor Gold Corp. (TUD), which ended last week at $1.23, leapt 14 cents Monday ahead of new assays from its 60-per-cent-owned Treaty Creek project in northwestern British Columbia. The stock then soared to an intraday high of $1.57 on 489,000 shares following word Tuesday that a stepout hole returned 20.86 grams of gold equivalent per tonne over 4.5 metres, but today it closed at $1.46, up 11 cents on just 57,000 shares.
