New York spot gold rose $22.80 to $1,719.20 on Thursday. The TSX-V moved higher again today, adding 9.15 points to 616.25 while the TSX gold index added 2.47 points to 239.60. Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) helped lead the way, adding $2.53 to $160.98 on 682,000 shares. Headed the other way was Newmont Corp. (NGT), which dipped 37 cents to $67.09 on 231,000 shares.
Michael Steinmann's Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) jumped $1.23 to $24.47 on 893,000 shares. The company has assays from another 22 infill and exploration holes drilled at its La Colorada Skarn project in Zacatecas, Mexico. The headline hit came from an infill test drilled in the western end of the deposit. It averaged 234 grams per tonne of silver, plus 0.09 per cent copper, 6.36 per cent lead and 5.72 per cent zinc over 295.5 metres. A 97-metre portion of that interval averaged 654 grams of silver per tonne plus 15.35 per cent lead and 11.38 per cent zinc.
