New York spot gold jumped $23.90 to $1,920.60 on Monday. The TSX-V added 5.64 points to 620.75 while the TSX gold index retreated 1.08 point to 309.89. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) was in retreat, dropping 23 cents to $11.86 on 363,000 shares. The company said today that it produced nearly 454,000 ounces of gold last year at its four operating mines, down from nearly 476,000 ounces in 2021 but with a glittering fourth quarter in which it managed over 128,000 ounces.
Eric Zaunscherb's GR Silver Mining Ltd. (GRSL) closed unchanged at 12.5 cents on 1.9 million shares on word that it has drilled an 82.7-metre interval averaging 121 grams of silver per tonne at its Plomosas project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The hit, in the new Southeast discovery zone within the San Marcial area, got a boost from a 10.2-metre stretch averaging 503 grams of silver per tonne, leaving the other 72.5 metres with 67 grams of silver per tonne.
