New York spot gold rose $1.10 to $1,925.30 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 6.39 points to 621.13 while the TSX gold index added 4.45 points to 276.84. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher today. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) added 27 cents to $6.37 on 4.7 million shares and Osisko Gold Royalties Inc. (OR), a laggard of late, rebounded 14 cents to $19.14 on 933,000 shares. Osisko traded at $20.77 last week, before it shuffled management.

Randy Turner's Independence Gold Corp. (IGO) jumped two cents to 14 cents on 660,000 shares today on word it has drilled a 6.98-metre interval averaging 6.1 grams of gold and 66.05 grams of silver per tonne in the main Ian vein at its 3Ts project nearly 200 kilometres southwest of Prince George in central British Columbia.

Much of the precious metals sat within a 0.5-metre stretch that averaged 31.8 grams of gold and 164 grams of silver per tonne. That hole and two others yielded several other intersections within the Ian Accessory veins, but none carried any promotional oomph. The longest was a 4.5-metre hit averaging 0.81 gram of gold and 16 grams of silver per tonne, while the best grades -- 4.56 grams of gold and 35 grams of silver per tonne -- spanned just one metre.
