New York spot gold fell $21.10 to $1,944.40 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 4.84 points to 622.68 while the TSX gold index slid 8.04 points to 279.05. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower with bullion today. Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) slid 56 cents to $7.90 on 2.63 million shares. Centerra rolled out its second quarter report late yesterday, logging a $40-million (U.S.) loss. Nevertheless, the company says it will pay a seven-cent quarterly dividend, unchanged from recent quarters. New Gold Inc. (NGD), which disappointed the market with its second quarter report last week, lost seven cents to $1.48 on 1.96 million shares today.

Shane Williams's West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG) rose one cent to 71 cents on 85,000 shares on word it has drilled a four-metre interval averaging 50.52 grams of gold per tonne at its Rowan property in the Red Lake district of Northwestern Ontario. Most of the gold sat within a 0.5-metre stretch that ran nearly 371.1 grams per tonne, which left the other 3.5 metres with just 4.73 grams per tonne.
