New York spot gold added $1 to $1,916.40 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 9.38 points to 584.13 while the TSX gold index dipped 0.26 point to 271.05. Most Canadian gold miners moved little today. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) was one gaining altitude, as it added 33 cents to $5.35 on 55,000 shares. Another was Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG), which added 35 cents to $5.79 on 506,000 shares. On the other hand, Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) fell 83 cents to $27.94 on 303,000 shares.

Ewan Downie and Matthew Gili's I-80 Gold Corp. (IAU) lost two cents to $2.61 on 473,000 shares on word of some high-grade polymetallic hits at its Ruby Hill project in Nevada. The headline hit came from the Blackjack zone, where a 30.4-metre interval returned 0.4 gram of gold and 29.2 grams of silver per tonne plus 19.14 per cent zinc. A second Blackjack hole had double the precious metals grades and nearly as much zinc across 16.4 metres.
