New York spot gold rose $3.20 to $1,921.90 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 0.26 point to 580.87 while the TSX gold index added 2.48 points to 270.64. Bullion moved little today but some of Canada's diamond miners took more energetic jaunts despite their continued silence of late. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) fell 14 cents to $2.82 on 2.72 million shares. Its last news came in mid-August when it cheered a long hit of high-grade gold at Didipio in the Philippines. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) went the other way, adding 40 cents to $13.29 on 363,000 shares despite being silent since July.

Nana Sangmuah's Roscan Gold Corp. (ROS) rose 1.5 cents to 15 cents on 296,000 shares on word of a new high-grade gold zone at Mankouke West, on its Kandiole project in southwestern Mali. The discovery hole -- well, the best of them -- returned 3.44 grams of gold per tonne across 31 metres. That was hole nine -- the first test of the program returned 1.72 grams per tonne across 28 metres and a subsequent one yielded 1.14 grams per tonne over 50 metres.
