New York spot gold fell $2.70 to $1,930.80 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 9.37 points to 581.72 while the TSX gold index fell 4.78 points to 273.12. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) fell 38 cents to $9.38 on 19,000 shares and Karora Resources Inc. (KRR), which fell 18 cents to $4.05 on 804,000 shares, led the retreat. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) bucked the trend with a 22-cent gain to $6.51 on 13,000 shares.

Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) rose three cents to 67 cents on 1.02 million shares on word of assays from a zone displaying visible gold. The test was drilled from the Cliff pad into the new Golden Gate zone at its Golddigger property in the Golden Triangle district of northwestern British Columbia. The glittering hit averaged 18.95 grams of gold and 95.31 grams of silver per tonne across 23 metres, aided by a nine-metre portion running 45.27 grams of gold and 225.4 grams of silver per tonne. Modest amounts of zinc, lead and copper accompanied the precious metals.
