New York spot gold added $5.60 to $1,985.20 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 2.21 points to 516.10, while the TSX gold index fell 2.18 points to 274.03. A few Canadian gold miners had more energetic moves today -- usually lower. Oh, Newmont Corp. (NGT) did add $1.08 to $51.74 on 1.44 million shares, but that followed yesterday's $2.15 decline. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led those in retreat today, dropping $1.82 to $65.55 on 2.14 million shares.
John Burzynski's Osisko Mining Inc. (OSK) lost nine cents to $2.89 on 2.04 million shares. The company is cheering new -- well, not entirely new -- assays from its 2023 drilling campaign at the Windfall Lake gold project in the Abitibi district of northwestern Quebec. Highlights from the 2023 program include 320 intercepts from 248 drill holes, the company cheers, although its table lists over 40 holes with a leading "22-" prefix. Further, some of those holes with 2022 prefixes had been reported several months ago.
