New York spot gold fell $9.70 to $1,995.90 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 7.07 points to 513.44, while the TSX gold index dropped 6.33 points to 274.12. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today, but none quite like Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV), which tumbled to an intraday low of $171.53 before ending the day down $16.19 to $174.47 on 1.64 million shares. The company had nothing new to say today, but others were vocal, among them being Simply Wall St., which editorialized yesterday that the current share price "suggests Franco-Nevada is potentially 29 per-cent overvalued." If it was overvalued, it is not so much so today.

Jorge Ganoza's Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (FVI) fell four cents to $3.97 on 1.29 million shares despite word that a Mexican federal court has ruled against the Mexican federal government. The court has reinstated the 12-year environmental impact reauthorization the government had unexpectedly denied for Fortuna's San Jose project in the fall of 2021, later granted upon threat of appeal, but then "clarified" in early 2022 as being for just two, not 12 years.
