New York spot gold fell $1.90 to $1,979.50 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 7.31 points to 522.92 while the TSX gold index fell 6.2 points to 268.45. Most Canadian-listed gold miners retreated today, although China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) bucked the trend with an 11-cent gain to $5.43 on 5,000 shares. Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) had no news but it slid 44 cents to $4.48 on 687,000 shares today.
Anthea Bath's Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) lost 16 cents to $7.74 on 1.29 million shares. The company said late Monday that it has drilled a 1.5-metre true-width interval grading 122.5 grams of gold per tonne at its Eagle River project near Wawa in Northern Ontario. A second hole returned 32.2 grams per tonne across a 1.5-metre width and a third mustered 29.2 grams per tonne across a 1.6-metre width. All three holes probed the area on the east side of the mine diorite, near the old No. 6 zone.
