New York spot gold rose $7.30 to $2,026.80 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 2.70 points to 533.55 while the TSX gold index added 1.59 points to 286.11. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved little today, but a few were more adventurous than others. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) jumped seven cents to $2.54 on 3.93 million shares while New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) fell eight cents to $4.70 on 154,000 shares. Neither company had news today.

One that did was Vern Baker's Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG), which slid 14 cents to $1.85 on 61,000 shares on an updated reserve and resource estimate for its MTL complex in Brazil. The company lists a reserve of 2.47 million tonnes grading 4.08 grams per tonne, a total of 324,000 ounces of gold spread across three ore bodies at the Turmalina mine and at the Faina deposit. The resource tallies are higher, about two million ounces in all, thanks to a healthy contribution from the Pitangui project and from inferred resources elsewhere.
