New York spot gold fell $2.30 to $2,062.90 on Friday -- the last session of 2023. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.47 points to 552.90 while the TSX gold index lost 1.09 points to 284.05. Most Canadian-listed gold miners moved lower today. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) was one of the more energetic in retreat, as it fell 20 cents to $9.52 on 19,000 shares.Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) kept it company, as it fell nine cents to $2.54 on 1.6 million shares. Endeavour Mining PLC. (EDV) did manage a gain, adding one cent to $29.77 on 409,000 shares.

Michael Cowin and John Mirko's Rokmaster Resources Corp. (RKR) closed unchanged at six cents on 386,000 shares. This follows word of "positive results" from the company's preliminary economic assessment of the Revel Ridge gold project, near Revelstoke in southeastern British Columbia. Rare as gold are the negative dream sheets, so it is no surprise that Rokmaster's study shows an internal rate of return at 21 per cent and a discounted net present value of $454-million after taxes.
