New York spot gold rose $11.90 Tuesday, closing at $2,660.60. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 5.01 points to 600.42 while the TSX gold index added 7.48 points to 384.27. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher today, some with gusto. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added $3.89 to $113.22 on 1.49 million shares, while K92 Mining Inc. (KNT) added 22 cents to $9.45 on 2.14 million shares. Some Canadian golds lost ground today. Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO) took a hit without news, dropping 17 cents to $3.31 on 1.2 million shares. Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM) fell 52 cents to $12.35 on 2.33 million shares.

Collin Kettell and Denis Laviolette's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) added seven cents to $3.41 on 267,000 shares on word the company has bought the last of a royalty covering its Queensway South property in north-central Newfoundland. This area of the full Queensway project covers everything south of the Cokes and Keats Main discoveries -- everything south of what is most important so far, in other words. The company bought a 0.6-per-cent portion of the 1.6-per-cent royalty in July. Now it has paid $1-million for the remaining 1 per cent.
