New York spot gold rose $11.90 Wednesday, closing at $2,673.80. The TSX Venture Exchange added 6.22 points to 606.64 while the TSX gold index added 2.13 points to 386.40. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher today but one recent riser had a down day: K92 Mining Inc. (KNT), up $1.60 over the previous three sessions, fell 51 cents to $8.94 on 2.54 million shares today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) did well, adding 21 cents to $6.99 on 3.86 million shares, and so did First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) which added 42 cents to $17.89 on 4.2 million shares.

Sharyn Alexander's Sun Summit Minerals Corp. (SMN) fell two cents to 27.5 cents on 610,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 57.95-metre interval grading 2.69 grams of gold and 1.72 grams of silver per tonne in the Creek zone, at its JD project in the Toodoggone district of north-central British Columbia. This fifth hole of the continuing 2024 program included a 19.5-metre subinterval that ran 7.31 grams of gold and 4.66 grams of silver per tonne. Further, the hole hit a near-surface zone that averaged 0.69 gram of gold and 0.61 gram of silver per tonne across 64.16 metres.
