New York spot gold continues to lose ground, dropping another $26.80 on Tuesday, hitting its afternoon pause at $3,953.60. The TSX Venture Exchange regained 5.74 points to end the day at 956.09, while the TSX gold index added 5.04 points to 677.92. Silvercorp Metals Corp. (SVM) did well, adding 21 cents to $8.76 on 1.41 million shares today, and so did Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR), which added 28 cents to $11.23 on 2.14 million shares. Thor Explorations Ltd. (THX) was not among the gainers, as it lost seven cents to $1.08 on 2.23 million shares.
And now for the news. Eldur Olafsson and Graham Stewart's Amaroq Ltd. (AMRQ) rose four cents to $1.63 on 116,000 shares on word that results from its summer exploration program on "multiple satellite gold projects" in southern Greenland -- beyond its Nalunaq mine and the advanced Nanok project in other words -- have turned up some new gold discoveries.
