New York spot gold was up all day until the end, hitting the afternoon break down 50 cents at $3,951.90. The TSX Venture Exchange tagged along, ending the day down 12.58 points at 943.51, while the TSX gold index added 0.51 point to 678.43. Nearly all Canadian gold miners gained ground today, so perhaps nod in silence to shareholders of McEwen Inc. (MUX), who watched their shares drop 69 cents to $25.98 on 221,000 shares. Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG), on the other hand, did well. It rose $1.13 to $93.81 on 1.71 million shares. So did its copper-hued sister, Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN), which rose $1.43 to $23.47 on 9.79 million shares.

Luis Albano Tondo's Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG) rose six cents to $5.80 on 393,000 shares, but it had news. The company cheers that it has received a partial suspension of interdiction order from the Brazilian government, a bureaucratic document soaked in lawyerese that "formally lifts restrictions on specific sections of the Satinoco pile at the Turmalina mine." This, Jaguar roars, is a significant milestone toward the safe and efficient restart of operations at its MTL complex, representing a "pivotal advancement" in the company's plan to resume full operations.
