New York spot gold added $99.40 to $4,839.30 on Tuesday as bullion's flattish stretch continues. The TSX Venture Exchange added 17.33 points to 1,040 while the TSX gold index jumped 13.48 points to 982.22. Canadian precious metals miners plotted a northbound course today, with Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) adding $1.93 to $25.26 on 1.89 million shares. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) also did well, adding 43 cents to $8.29 on 3.45 million shares. Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) stumbled, dropping $2.93 to $41.35 on 1.25 million shares, with no news to account for the move.
Lorne Waldman and Victor Feng's Tincorp Metals Inc. (TIN) came off a six-week halt by leaping 53 cents to $1.03 on 2.25 million shares. The halt followed word that the company is acquiring the Santa Barbara gold and copper project in southeastern Ecuador from Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM: $17.06). Silvercorp gets 15 million Tincorp shares given a deemed value of 40 cents apiece, and $13.5-million (U.S.) in staged payments over a three-year period.
