New York spot gold added $29.20 to $4,027.80 by Thursday afternoon. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 2.57 points to 895.38 while the TSX gold index gained 8.64 points to 764.23. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) did well today, adding $1.32 to $44.10 on 3.25 million shares in silence, while equally mum Iamgold Corp. (IMG) added 83 cents to $22.41 on 3.6 million shares. Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC), on the other hand, lost 80 cents to $32.09 on 3.82 million shares, also on the quiet.
Anthea Bath's Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO) had a good day, adding 40 cents to $23.99 on 2.11 million shares. The company has revised reserve and resource estimates, and a three-year production outlook, for Eagle River in Northern Ontario, and Kiena, near Val d'Or in Quebec. At Eagle River, Wesdome has 2.9 million tonnes at 7.3 grams of gold per tonne, for 676,000 ounces, while there are 2.55 million tonnes at 8.7 grams per tonne, about 711,000 ounces, at Kiena.
