New York spot gold regained $51.40 to $4,051.70 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange reclaimed 10.42 points to 891.70 while the TSX gold index added 4.25 points to 741.67. Most precious metals miners moved higher today, and those with a copper connection did particularly well. First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FM) jumped $2.97 to $38.94 on 4.82 million shares on the quiet, while Trekor Metals Ltd. (TKO) did better, adding $1.22 to $11.18 on 2.75 million shares, although it got a boost from word that its Gibraltar mine yielded pleasing amounts of copper and molybdenum in the second quarter.
Brad George's Orosur Mining inc. (OMI) rose one-half cent to 30.5 cents on 240,000 shares on word it has drilled a 135-metre interval grading 1.91 grams of gold per tonne at its Anza project in Colombia. The intercept got a significant boost from a deep-but-rich subinterval that ran 12.73 grams of gold per tonne across 13.8 metres. This follows the results from the first hole of the new drill program, which yielded a 229.7-metre interval that graded 0.88 gram per tonne, with a 59.2-metre stretch at depth managing 2.20 grams per tonne.
