New York spot gold dipped $6.90 to $4,239.30 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange moved little, adding 2.95 points to 926.78, while the TSX gold index gained 4.18 points to 831.27. Investors were pickier today than earlier in the week, as some precious metal miners lost ground to their rivals. Some did well: Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) did add 58 cents to $15.08 on 13.34 million shares, for instance, but others moved lower. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) dropped 90 cents to $36.77 on 1.7 million shares and China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) did worse, losing $3.10 to $36.39 on 125,000 shares.
Roger Rosmus's Goliath Resources Ltd. (GOT) rose two cents to $1.57 on 755,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 16-metre interval grading 7.34 grams of gold and 35.56 grams of silver per tonne at the Surebet zone of its Golddigger project, in the Golden Triangle district of northwestern British Columbia. That hole, one of five new tests with assays today, also hit a deeper interval in the Bonanza zone. It returned 4.36 grams of gold and 2.28 grams of silver per tonne across five metres.
