New York spot gold dipped $6.70 Monday, ending the session at $4,447.60. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 6.65 points to 982.51 while the TSX gold index fell 16.01 points, ending the day at 971.98. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) lost 22 cents to $10.16 on 1.25 million shares, while McEwen Inc. (MUX) fell 51 cents to $28 on 75,000 shares.

Chris Wensley's Gold Runner Exploration Inc. (GRUN) had a good day, adding three cents to 69 cents on 552,000 shares. The move followed word of high-grade surface sampling at the newly discovered Gold Stack Trend area of its Golden Girl property, in the Golden Triangle district of northwestern British Columbia. The headline grab sample returned 11.22 grams of gold and 25,306 grams of silver per tonne, along with 2.97 per cent copper, 8.19 per cent lead and 5.89 per cent zinc -- a gold equivalent grade just shy of 400 grams per tonne. Several other samples did well, although with grades an order of magnitude lower, with silver generally trumping gold and base metals.
