The TSX Venture Exchange also lost its way, falling 25.85 points to 956.66, while the TSX gold index slid 35.54 points, ending the day at 936.44. Most precious metals miners listed in Canada lost ground today. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) fell 38 cents to $7.22 on 7.38 million shares while Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) lost $12.47 to $268.76 on 1.62 million shares. Northbound stocks were rarities today, save those with news, but Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) did manage to add seven cents to $2.68 on 403,000 shares.

Benoit La Salle's Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) had news, but it fell $1.98 to $36.68 on 1.54 million shares. The company is acquiring a 13,900-hectare portfolio of permits in Morocco, including a 1,900-hectare mining licence sitting 35 kilometres west of its Zgounder mine. The acquisition, the company says, is expected to further consolidate its land position in the district and provide exposure to a large and underexplored copper and silver system.
