New York spot gold added $14.60 Tuesday, taking a break at $4,357.30. The TSX Venture Exchange added 19.77 points to 939.80, while the TSX gold index rose by an even 36 points to 981.24. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) was one of the strong silent ones, as it added $3.72 to $63.16 on 1.25 million shares. Trekor Metals Ltd. (TKO), up $1.01 to $13.14 on 2.33 million shares, and Soma Gold Corp. (SOMA), up eight cents to 78 cents on 735,000 shares, also fit the Gary Cooper mould. Not all the mute miners were strong, however, as China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) dropped six cents to $43.13 on 220,000 shares.

Jose Garcia's Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) was strong, adding 12 cents to 99 cents on 1.96 million shares, but it had news. The company has updated its resource estimate for the Nueva Recuperada project in Peru. It now lists 10.4 million tonnes measured and indicated at 125.4 grams of silver and 0.32 gram of gold per tonne, plus 1.7 per cent zinc and 1.61 per cent lead. Another 21.7 million tonnes are inferred at 172 grams of silver and 0.18 gram of gold per tonne, along with 1.75 per cent zinc and 1.94 per cent lead. In all, the project hosts nearly 162 million ounces of silver and 276,000 ounces of gold, along with 555,000 tonnes of zinc and 586,000 tonnes of lead.
