New York spot gold was up $42.30 to $4,059.30 as North American stock markets closed on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 13.20 points to 838.48, while the TSX gold index gained 23.81 points to 834.65. Most precious metals miners gained ground today, although one that did not was DPM Metals Inc. (DPM). (NFGC) went the other way, adding 22 cents to $2.45 on 1.85 million shares.

Jamie Beck's Lundin Gold Inc. (LUG) jumped $2.43 to $87.34 on 703,000 shares. The company said late yesterday that it intersected a 10.34-metre true width interval grading 124.27 grams of gold and 93.68 grams of silver per tonne in underground drilling at Fruta del Norte South (FDNS), on its Fruta del Norte (FDN) project in Ecuador. It did better than that, but over a shorter run, at the nearby Bonza Sur zone, as a 3.3-metre interval graded 242.64 grams of gold and 126.43 grams of silver per tonne.
