The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was an upbeat 87-61-162 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose six points to 793. Adam Lundin and Dr. William Lamb's Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC) lost one cent to 21 cents on 140,000 shares. Lucara revealed its second quarter results after the close Friday and while there were no shocks in the numbers, the bean counters did ruminate about a possible financial electrocution, casting doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern.

In other words, given Lucara's revised revenue guidance for the rest of the year and considering that the company is in breach of some covenants surrounding its debt, Lucara needs cash to tide it over. The company waffles that it "continues to develop plans to raise additional financing required" -- beating the proverbial bushes, in other words -- to complete its underground expansion project. Lucara soothes that it has "previously been successful in raising financing," but it then grates the market with a caution that future financings "may not succeed or may fall short of the required amounts."
