The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a fantastic 119-54-137 as the TSX Venture Exchange leapt 25 points to 989. One should perhaps mention a diamond stock before touting tales from the long list of specialty minerals explorers, but there is nothing new to say. Worse, when there is something new, it is usually disappointing. In that light, Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM), down one-half cent to 3.5 cents on 179,000 shares today, was not disappointing in that it had nothing to say.
Mind you, the specialty minerals explorers have been bringing investors their own disappointments of late. Peter Shearing's Canada Rare Earth Corp. (LL), which has long touted plans of a veritable global empire of rare earth refineries for what seems forever -- more than a decade -- appears to have struck its flag and bent a knee in fealty to "increasing geopolitical pressures surrounding rare earth investments in Southeast Asia."
