The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a ho-hum 71-92-147 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose one point to 991. With no joy emanating from global rough diamond sales again this week, and with nothing new on its big-but-slow underground expansion at Karowe, Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC) continues to tread water with the resulting ripples lapping at its nostrils: It closed unchanged at 19.5 cents on 326,000 shares today, revisiting its all-time low of 18.5 cents.
Tony Giardini's Trilogy Metals Inc. (TMQ) surged $6.16 to $9.09 on 3.89 million shares. The company is applauding President Trump for a decision granting the permits for the Ambler Access project, reversing a decision made last year by the Biden administration to terminate the right-of-way granted to the proposed Ambler road. The road is a 340-kilometre-long, industrial-use-only highway that would link the Ambler district to the existing road infrastructure. (Ambler is in remote north-central Alaska, well east of Kotzebue, and the proposed road would run eastward to the main north-south highway between Anchorage and Deadhorse.)
