The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a terrible 47-139-124 as the TSX Venture Exchange slumped 40 points to 1,108. After a three-session rally carried its stock from less than 15 cents to a high of 66 cents, the bubble burst for Vanguard Mining Corp. (UUU) today. While it enjoyed a cumulative 37-cent gain on over 40 million shares during its ascent, Vanguard shed 13.5 cents to 41.5 cents on 6.01 million shares today. Vanguard has had a freshet of news streaming from its Redonda copper and molybdenum project in British Columbia to drive the roller coaster.

Ellerton Castor's Canada Carbon Inc. (CCB), halted at 1.5 cents since August because it failed to pay the market sustaining fees that it owed, has nevertheless managed to wrap up a third drill program on its Asbury graphite project. The project, north-northeast of Ottawa in southwestern Quebec, saw just over 2,500 metres of drilling completed -- not quite half of the initially planned 5,200 metres.
