The critical and specialty minerals box score for Tuesday was a weak 58-111-141 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell 12 points to 968. Democratic Republic of the Congo-based tin miner Alphamin Resources Corp. (AFM) lost two cents to $1.14 on 2.66 million shares. There has been no news in nearly a month -- not necessarily a bad thing when your high-grade mine is in, or at least near, an area plagued by occasional murder and mayhem.

Dermot Desmond and Jonathan Comerford's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) lost one-half cent to five cents on 91,000 shares. The company rolled out its audited 2025 report with just a few hours to spare ahead of the regulatory deadline at the end of March, and as expected the results were gloomy -- just not gloomy enough to send the stock spiraling back to its all-time low of 3.5 cents that it reached late last year.

The glumness was evident during Mountain Province's April Fools Day conference call with analysts and shareholders. While it was always a lively event a decade ago, with the questions often carrying on longer than the presentation, this latest version might well have been held in the back seat of a Toyota Prius: Not a single attendee piped up with a question, and only a single query popped up from on-line participants. (The question went unanswered, as it pertained to 2026 sales.)
