The critical and specialty minerals box score for Tuesday was a mediocre 89-103-118 as the TSX Venture Exchange added six points to 985. Kerem Usenmez's Volta Metals Ltd. (VLTA) lost one cent to 17.5 cents on 252,000 shares. The company has assays from two holes drilled at its Springer rare earth elements project, near Sturgeon Falls in Northern Ontario.

The headline hit returned 0.4 per cent total rare earth oxides and 44.5 grams of gallium oxide per tonne across a 417.8-metre interval beginning just below surface. The intercept included a higher-grade section that averaged 3.73 per cent total rare earth oxides and 174.7 grams of gallium per tonne over a 2.2-metre interval in the uppermost part of the zone. That rich sliver included nearly 5,146 grams of neodymium oxide and 1,701 grams of praseodymium oxide per tonne, with nearly 67 grams of dysprosium oxide, 19 grams of terbium oxide, 247 grams of gadolinium oxide and 468 grams of samarium oxide per tonne.
