The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a positive 76-85-149 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost five points to 868. Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) -- "onshoring industrial-scale American lithium by late 2027," the company's website enthuses -- lost nine cents to $3.99 on 1.46 million shares, continuing its two-month material silence.
It was a tough slog and the journey ended well short of its destination, but Mario Pezzente's Germanium Mining Corp. (GMC) has closed the final tranche of the private placement it launched two weeks ago. Germanium sold another 200,000 flow-through shares at 24 cents apiece, raising another $48,000. A week ago, the company sold one million shares, raising $240,000. The offering had called for buyers to line up for nearly three million of the shares, as Germanium sought $700,000 for exploration.
And so, with barely 40 per cent of the cash it wanted in its coffers, Mr. Pezzente, chief executive officer, will now have to prioritize the company's plan for working its Lac du Km 35 property in north-central Quebec. When the Germanium mining launched its placement, it was touting the results of geophysical work on the property that outlined anomalies across an area 1,400-metres square hosting the Laganiere showing.
