New York spot gold fell $1.40 Friday, ending the afternoon at $3,393.50. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 1.83 points to 787.22 while the TSX gold index added another 1.67 points to 567.15. Fortuna Mining Corp. (FVI) was strong today, as it added 50 cents to $9.05 on 3.61 million shares. Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM), on the other hand, fell 41 cents to $6.21 on 3.64 million shares on its second quarter report.
Chad Peters's Ridgeline Minerals Corp. (RDG) has drilled up to 1.8 grams of oxide gold and 2.1 grams of silver per tonne at its Atlas project in Nevada. Excellent, but see the missing information? Omissions are never a good thing on Howe Street, and the bowels of the company's press release show that the noteworthy grade occurred across an interval of just 0.2 metre. In fact, the headline hit was an individual sample within an 8.5-metre zone that averaged just 0.2 gram of gold and 0.52 gram of silver per tonne.
