New York spot gold rose $38.50 Monday to $3,679.50. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 13.31 points to 892.98 while the TSX gold index rose 4.04 points to 673.71. Several Canadian gold miners moved lower today. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) fell 92 cents to $23.83 on 132,000 shares and Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) fell 42 cents to $211.82 on 1.5 million shares. Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI), on the other hand, kept its northward drive alive, adding six cents to 48 cents on 6.16 million shares. Orosur traded for 20 cents in August.
Rudi Fronk's Seabridge Gold Inc. (SEA) leapt $1.86 to $27.92 on 352,000 shares on word that another three holes drilled at the Snip North target on its Iskut project in northwestern British Columbia have yielded encouraging assays. The headline hit returned a 715-metre intercept that averaged 0.72 gram of gold and 1.8 grams of silver per tonne along with 0.16 per cent copper. A 104-metre midsection graded 1.55 grams of gold and 4.5 grams of silver per tonne, plus 0.25 per cent copper. The two other new holes also returned long intercepts.
