New York spot gold nosed northward again Tuesday, pausing at $3,857.70, up $24.90 on the day. The TSX Venture Exchange added five points to 947.84 while the TSX gold index added 4.18 points to 732.62. Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) helped the index along, adding 24 cents to $3.79 on 1.05 million shares without benefit of news. Also silent and also on the move was Novagold Resources Inc. (NG), which added 48 cents to $12.30 on 1.84 million shares. Novagold shareholders are settling in to hear their third quarter results after the close today.
Brian Dalton and John Baker's Altius Minerals Corp. (ALS) on the other hand dropped 62 cents to $33.47 on 88,000 shares. The moving companies in St. John's had a busy day at Altius's headquarters as the company has realigned its management and board. Two fellows, Ben Lewis, chief financial officer, and Chad Wells, vice-president of corporate development, are -- or were -- retired effective today, although they will remain advisers for a bit.
