New York spot gold carried on with its drive Tuesday, adding $21.10 to $3,980.30 by the afternoon pause. The TSX Venture Exchange added 1.38 points to 991.36 but topped 1,000 points during the day, its first time in four years. The TSX gold index, on the other hand, dropped 12.55 points to 740.65. Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) was strong: It leapt 25 cents yesterday and gained another 16 cents to $1.12 on 2.23 million shares today. Orvana was a 74-center at the open on Monday.
And then there were those with news. Darren Hall's Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) added 53 cents to $15.99 on 8.07 million shares on a productive third quarter. Operational performance at its Greenstone mine "improved meaningfully" and its new Valentine mine delivered first gold ahead of schedule, said a cheerful Mr. Hall, chief executive officer. "With Greenstone ramping up, Valentine now producing gold and our balance sheet stronger, Equinox Gold is well positioned to deliver on 2025 expectations and create additional value for all stakeholders," he enthused.
