New York spot gold regained $50.80 Wednesday hitting the afternoon pause at $3,981.90. The TSX Venture Exchange recovered 12.02 points to end the day at 900.89 while the TSX gold index rebounded 23.99 points to 688.29. Most precious metals miners listed in Canada moved northward with bullion and the indexes today, so nod a solemn acknowledgment to shareholders of Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR), as their shares lost 34 cents to $10.23 on 3.62 million shares without supporting news. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) was among the gainers today, as it tacked on $5.68 to $225.42 on 1.72 million shares.
Yes, Kinross Gold Corp. (K) was stronger, adding $2.32 to $33.98 on 10.47 million shares, but it had news. The company revealed its "strong third quarter results" late Tuesday, and while companies large and small invariably tout their performance as being strong, Kinross backed up its claim with a dividend hike, jacking it to 3.5 U.S. cents from three U.S. cents. So strong was the quarter that Kinross is also redeeming $500-million (U.S.) in senior notes not coming due until mid-2027.
