New York spot gold rallied strongly Monday morning and took its daily afternoon breather at $4,114.10, up $114.50 on the day. Not to be outdone, the TSX Venture Exchange surged northward today, adding 22.93 points to 908.24 while the TSX gold index leapt 32.79 points to 731.93. Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) helped lead the charge, adding 5.5 cents to 51 cents on 3.09 million shares, but it had plenty of company. Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG) jumped 61 cents to $6.01 on 572,000 shares and best of all, GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) went 49 cents higher to $2.86 on nine million shares.

Collin Kettell and John Sclodnick's Nevada King Gold Corp. (NKG) was pleased to have new assays from its Silver Park East target, just two kilometres west of its Atlanta deposit in eastern Nevada, but investors were not as thrilled: Its stock managed to add one cent to 15 cents on 631,000 shares on the news. The top result among these last 10 holes of a third phase of drilling managed 0.2 gram of gold and four grams of silver per tonne across a 70-metre interval.
