New York spot gold fell $1.10 Thursday, reaching $4,075.90. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 24.28 points to 849.17 while the TSX gold index crumbled 36.48 points to 711.03. Most golds were up early but turned sharply southward as the morning progressed. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) ended the day down 56 cents to $6.01 on 1.52 million shares after getting to $6.71 early on. GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD), on the other hand, began its southbound drive early and pursued its course with vigour, ending the day down 21 cents to $2.26 on 4.74 million shares. Both companies made their moves in silence.
Michael Konnert's Vizsla Silver Corp. (VZLA) perhaps predictably shed 95 cents today, closing at $5.62 on 11.47 million shares. The slump came despite word that the company has priced its offering of $250-million (U.S.) in convertible senior unsecured notes sufficiently that it expects to receive nearly $240-million (U.S.) in net proceeds -- and nearly $286-million (U.S.) if the underwriters put their greenshoe option to work, which allows them to buy an additional $50-million (U.S.) of the notes.
