New York spot gold rose $68.20 Monday, taking a pause at $4,132.40. The TSX Venture Exchange added 25.71 points to 880.47 while the TSX gold index gained 38.42 points to 756.91. Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) helped the great leap forward -- apologies to Chairman Mao -- with a gain of $1.70 to $18.11 on 5.2 million shares today. Barrick Mining Corp. (ABX) also did well, adding $4.40 to $55.93 on 21.1 million shares. They were more the rule than the exception, as Iamgold Corp. (IMG) jumped $1.56 to $19.69 on 4.35 million shares and Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) added 35 cents to $5.53 on 9.61 million shares.
Scott Berdahl's Snowline Gold Corp. (SGD) jumped 88 cents to $14.08 on 317,000 shares on new assays from the Valley deposit on its Rogue project in east-central Yukon. The headline hit among the three latest holes returned a 534.5-metre interval grading 0.62 gram of gold per tonne, aided by a 42.5-metre portion at depth that ran 2.1 grams per tonne. A second hole managed 1.03 grams per tonne across 105 metres at depth, while the third returned 0.71 gram per tonne over 347.5 metres, also at depth.
