New York spot gold rose $33.20 Wednesday, ending the day at $4,163.10. The TSX Venture Exchange added 26.10 points to 918.36 while the TSX gold index gained 34.24 points to 792.23. Most Canadian listed gold miners gained ground today. Starcore International Mines Ltd. (SAM) jumped eight cents to 59 cents on 855,000 shares and Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO) kept it company, adding 68 cents to $7.09 on 3.77 million shares. Dynacor Group Inc. (DNG) went the other way, dropping 27 cents to $4.28 on 538,000 shares.
Benoit La Salle's Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) had a good day, adding $1.99 to $16.76 on 2.5 million shares. Aya had a helping hand today, as it cheered the "best-ever mineralized intercept" at its Boumadine project in Morocco. The headline hit returned 3.31 grams of gold and 1,900 grams of silver per tonne across 15 metres, greatly aided by an 8.7-metre stretch that ran 5.37 grams of gold and 3,208 grams of silver per tonne.
