New York spot gold dipped $7 Thursday, ending the day at $4,155.80 as Americans celebrated Thanksgiving. The TSX Venture Exchange added 3.72 points to 922.08 while the TSX gold index dipped 1.61 points to 790.62. Most Canadian gold miners stayed close to home, likely as a result of the American holiday. Barrick Mining Corp. (ABX) slipped six cents to $57.50 on 1.43 million shares and Iamgold Corp. (IMG) added 19 cents to $21.71 on 1.21 million shares, as not even a turkey feast could keep them idle.
Oh, there were a few big movers today -- just not necessarily in the right direction. Juan Gavidia's Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) slid 32 cents to $1.74 on 1.91 million shares on word of its fiscal 2025 results. "Fiscal 2026 is expected to be an important year," enthused Mr. Gavidia, chief executive officer, burying a lede that had the company falling 724 ounces short of its 2025 guidance of 30,000 to 31,000 ounces. (Worse, that was a revised forecast: In August, Orvana had pared back its initial prediction of 37,000 to 41,000 ounces.)
