New York spot gold took its Wednesday afternoon pause at $4,337.30, up $36 on the day. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 3.11 points to 932.46 while the TSX gold index rose 8.81 points to 813.94. Starcore International Mines Ltd. (SAM) had a good day, adding seven cents to 90 cents on 750,000 shares, and so did Endeavour Mining PLC (EDV), which added $1.01 to $68.01 on 1.43 million shares. Not so cheerful were shareholders of DPM Metals Inc. (DPM), which dropped 62 cents to $40.98 on 2.59 million shares.
Tara Christie's Banyan Gold Corp. (BYN) rose three cents to 96 cents on 1.16 million shares on word that it has closed the gap between its AurMac and Nitra properties in eastern Yukon through the "strategic acquisition" of the Trail Minto claims, a 15-kilometre-long strip that is a few kilometres wide, running north-to-south through what is now the central part of the contiguous block. The purchase cost Banyan $1-million in cash and a 2-per-cent net smelter royalty on the new ground.
