New York spot gold had another solid day today, adding $44.10 to reach $4,492.30 by the afternoon break. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 13.25 points to 1,033.94 and the TSX gold index leapt another 38.38 points to 882.23. Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO) had a good day, adding 25 cents to $8.55 on 3.5 million shares, and GoGold Resources Inc. (GGD) kept it company, adding 12 cents to $3.09 on 5.96 million shares. Not every miner had the party hats and horns out today: Silver X Mining Corp. (AGX) fell 4.5 cents to $1.04 on 6.65 million shares.

Daniel Noone's G2 Goldfields Inc. (GTWO) rose 34 cents to $6.80 on 860,000 shares on new assays from its Oko project in Guyana. The latest results are from 16 new holes spanning 6,000 metres that had been drilled into the Border and Ghanie zones. Six of the holes made the highlight reel, led by a 2.7-metre zone that graded 39.3 grams of gold per tonne. A second test produced 2.4 grams per tonne across 50 metres at depth, and a third hole mustered 2.1 grams per tonne over 30 near-surface metres.
