New York spot gold rose $31.60 to $4,508.80 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 13.4 points to 1,052.18 while the TSX gold index rose 13.24 points to 896.74. There was a lot of northbound traffic on the market today, with Robex Resources Inc. (RBX) adding 32.5 cents to $5.94 on 599,000 shares and Jaguar Mining Inc. (JAG) gaining 39 cents to $8.10 on 526,000 shares. Not everyone was pleased: Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) dropped 68 cents to $19.66 on 6.91 million shares.
There was a larger slip and fall, but it was driven by news. Ian Cockerill's Endeavour Mining PLC (EDV) slumped $5.11 to $72.50 on 3.25 million shares today. No, there was not an accident at one of its mines, and no, assays did not come back with poor results: The slide followed word that a major shareholder, La Mancha Resource Capital LLP, has sold 8.5 million shares to BMO Capital Markets at $71.25 per share.
