New York spot gold rose $57.70 Monday, taking its pause at $5,335.90. Bullion had reached $5,420 in the wee hours of the morning. The TSX Venture Exchange added 10 points to 1,117.6, while the TSX gold index added 1.61 points to 1,104.45. Most precious metals miners listed in Canada moved lower today. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) dropped 29 cents to $12.83 on 1.58 million shares and Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) slid $1.05 to $45.61 on 576,000 shares. Both moved in silence, as did Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI). Alamos, however, added $1.72 to $75.65 on 2.5 million shares.

Rex McLennan and Dan Dickson's Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) took a tumble, slumping to $17.20 and ending the day down $1 to $17.98 on 4.03 million shares, but it had news -- "key changes to its senior management team as the company enters a new phase of growth and execution." Don Gray, chief operating officer, will be retiring next month, and his replacement will be Luis Castro, currently vice-president of exploration. The company has also added Gord Bussieres as vice-president of projects and appointed George Paspalas as a director.
